The Pro Contemporary Ballet Foundation

June 2000 was a milestone in the life of both the Pro Contemporary Ballet Foundation and the Szeged Contemporary Ballet. As a result of the scandalous decision of the director of the Szeged National Theatre which was followed by outrage of both the public and the theatrical profession, the Szeged Contemporary Ballet became free from the institutional boundaries of the theatre. From then on, operational and programme organisational tasks of the company were taken up solely by the foundation, and in financing of the company apart from great support form the Self Government of Szeged County Capital, the company receives major support from the Ministry of National Cultural Heritage, the National Cultural Initiative, and several major companies and entrepreneurs.
